CSD disc, cleaning disc or coarse cleaning disc?

CSD discs are often known and marketed as "cleaning discs." These excellent grinding discs, suitable for removing rust and paint, are referred to in a variety of ways and vary greatly from region to region. CSD disc, fleece grinding disc, cleaning disc, paint stripper disc, or rough cleaning disc are just a few of the terms used to describe these discs.

These CSD cleaning discs are by far the best for the initial mechanical removal of coarse rust, while rotating steel wire brushes in a drill or angle grinder are less suitable or not suitable at all.

Why shouldn't rust be removed with rotating wire brushes?

Rust should NOT be removed with rotating wire brushes in a drill or angle grinder! This method mixes/smears the rust with the wire brush material and works it into the healthy metal. This creates a silvery/black layer that appears rust-free, but is not. New rust is inevitable. This layer can then no longer be removed!

CSD cleaning discs for angle grinders and drills

CSD discs are available for Flex/angle grinders with 115 mm or 125 mm Diameter, as well as for clamping in the drill or cordless screwdriver including mandrel/shaft with a diameter of 100 mm.

Difference between CSD coarse cleaning disc purple and black?

CSD cleaning discs are usually offered in black or purple, which begs the question: What's the difference? The black discs are somewhat softer and not quite as durable, while the purple discs are significantly harder and last longer. Depending on the intended use, you should carefully consider the choice and keep in mind that harder discs also result in more material being removed. If you're unsure, you should test both models.
